Choose the phones. Follow the right steps.

Use the new phone's official migration tool. Handle WhatsApp history as a separate verification task. Never erase the customer's old phone until they confirm everything is present.

Cable decision

USB-C ⇄ USB-C: preferred for supported wired Android transfers.
USB-C ⇄ Lightning: keep for iPhone → Android wired migration and older Lightning iPhones.
Micro-USB: use a compatible data-capable cable and OTG adapter only if supported by the setup prompts.
USB-A: a connector type, not a phone migration protocol. Don't plug two phones through an ordinary charging hub.
Wireless: use when the manufacturer's app specifically supports it, often through QR + Wi-Fi Direct / hotspot.

Keep a set of known-good DATA cables marked 'tested'. If a cable fails to handshake, switch to an officially supported wireless method.

Do not promise these will copy

Banking / UPI app authorisations, device-bound authenticators and most security credentials.
Every third-party app's private data, saved sessions or paid apps.
WhatsApp Business history during cross-platform transfers.
All device-specific themes, launcher layouts, protected files or DRM content.
Any cross-platform WhatsApp history if the prescribed setup sequence was skipped.

Data categories vary by Android/iOS versions, brand and app permissions.
